Residential

The United Arc believes that to be empowered, all people need a place in the community to call home. Our dedication to this belief covers over 50 years, from our earliest days as a group home provider for adults with developmental challenges. Today, we continue to create and provide opportunities for adults to lead fulfilling and independent lives in their communities.

The United Arc residences focus on person centered living situations for adults with developmental or intellectual disabilities. Each person has his or her own room which they can decorate. The environments are designed and furnished to the preferences of the persons served while keeping in mind the needs of individuals. Common spaces including the bathrooms, kitchen, and living rooms. Individuals are encouraged to take pride in where they live and truly make their residence a home. Living in a group home ensures that a person does not isolate. The individuals become their own supportive community and help each other live more independent lives. The staff provide support in areas such as personal care, personal finance, and transportation. Staff members engage the individuals in a variety of therapeutic activities to build cognitive, physical, and social skills. Our Residential homes offer Nursing and Clinical services designed to assist more medically compromised individuals with medication administration, medical treatments, medical appointments, and other care. All homes have a Registered Nurse available for consultation. Eligibility for the United Arc residential services for those with developmental or intellectual disabilities is determined by the Department of Developmental Services.
